Patriots, Pictures and Prizes

The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce invites the community to submit photos for two new (and concurrent) photo projects.

“Patriotic Photo Contest,” sponsored by Uptown Station

Help us showcase the wonderful patriotic quality of life in our community. Locals, visitors, amateurs, and professionals are invited to capture an image of our community, anywhere, any time, provided that the Uptown Station flag—flying on the state’s tallest flagpole—is visible in the photo. (Photos featuring any other American flag will also be accepted.)

Uptown Station is offering a $400 gift certificate to the winner, with $200 and $100 Uptown Station gift certificates going to the second and third prize winners.

“My Hometown Image,” sponsored by Helen Back Café

We’re also interested in photos that illustrate all the reasons you love our area. Choose your own favorite landmarks, icons, places, people, and things that best illustrate the amazing quality of life on the Emerald Coast. There’s just one restriction: No Gulf of Mexico beach photos, please! We all know how that we have the most beautiful beaches in the world. Let’s showcase the other amazing things about our area.

The prizes will be offered by another one of our favorite local icons, Helen Back on the Island. Imagine having a year’s supply of Helen Back pizza! First Place: One Helen Back pizza per week for a year!! Second place: $200 in Helen Back gift certificates. Third: $100 gift certificates.

Both contests start on Monday, June 27, and all photos must be submitted to the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce no later than 5 pm on Friday, July 15. Winners will be announced on August 1, 2011.

Photographers of any experience level (amateur or professional) and any age are invited to enter either or both of these contests. The photos will become the property of the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce, and will be used in promoting our special part of the Emerald Coast. Photographers will get photo credit when their photos are used. Each photographer may submit only six photos for consideration per competition (twelve in all if you choose to submit for both contests.)

The Executive Committee of the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce will be the contest judges.
