JOB TITLE: Residential Coach
DEPARTMENT: Safe House Program- The Refuge
PAY RANGE: Salary 32k-37k yearly plus housing (non-exempt employee)
HOURS: 40 hrs per week
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Executive Director
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Residential Coach is a live-in full-time support staff member for The Refuge. The Residential Coach creates a safe home environment for the residents. The Residential Coach encourages independent living among residents by furthering life skills and creating accountability when needed. Structured work hours will be 3pm to 11pm and 4pm to 10pm.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
? Provide guidance for evening and weekend routines and planned activities
? Mentor and give emotional support to participants
? Provide life skills training with program participants (e.g. cooking basic meals etc.)
? Provide accountability for house chores with program participants
? Maintain system for house laundry (common area towels, linens, etc.) and implement on weekly basis
? Maintain storage areas and facilitate cleaning of these
? Attend biweekly program staff meeting
QUALIFICATIONS
? Non-profit, residential treatment, or group home experience preferred
? Some college experience preferred
? Experience with foster care/ independent living preferred
? Strong desire to work with traumatized individuals
? Understanding of the Trauma-Informed Approach
? Understanding of High Risk Victims
? Strong administrative and organizational skills
? Strong ability to problem solve
? Strong spiritual grounding
? Crisis prevention experience preferred
? Working knowledge of common behavioral health disorders preferred
? Ability to multi-task and work in a high intensity environment
? Ability to work in an independent environment as a part of a team-unit
? High level of collaboration
? Strong interpersonal and communication skills
? Strong computer and software skills
? Driver’s license and vehicle
TIME COMMITMENT
This position requires a year long commitment to maintain consistency for our participants. The Residential Coach is a full-time position (40 hours). The position is mission focused with a high degree of interaction with The Refuge participants.
