EXAMPLES OF WORK
• Supervises, directs, and manages personnel functions to include, selection, assignment, scheduling, interviewing, hiring, and discipline of assigned staff.
• Develops and implements the annual sales plan and trade show budget, to include the convention center, various County-owned venues, lodging partner meeting space, sporting events and destination weddings.
• Establishes monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals with specific performance metrics aligned with business strategies; prepares sales activity and revenue reports for presentation.
• Initiates prospective/qualified sales calls on new and emerging markets; manages and assigns lead referrals to sales staff or lodging partners.
• Oversees proposal/contract negotiation and preparation for potential clients with the goal to increase the number of events, attendance, and revenues.
• Ensures sales team works closely with various operations teams to achieve client satisfaction and seamless transition to event management.
• Attends meetings with marketing team to ensure brand alignment, consistency, and promotion of business opportunities across appropriate channels; stays up-to-date with industry trends and practices and maintains awareness of competing destinations.
• Researches market trends, competition, and key customers to grow and diversify business, with an emphasis on bookings which generate overnight stays; generates innovative ideas to attract business and boost brand awareness.
• Cultivates productive working relationships with local stakeholders to identify and address opportunities.
• Creates an environment which encourages employee and customer satisfaction, and promotes teamwork and innovation.
• Prepares and presents reports to the Tourist Development Council and other stakeholders.
• Attends and participates in regional, national and international trade shows and promotional events outside of normal business hours; conducts familiarization tours for potential clients.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Management, Communications or closely related field supplemented by a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in destination, convention center or hotel/resort group sales, two (2) years of which shall be in a management/ supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Demonstrated working knowledge and proficiency with sales performance metrics is required. Demonstrated success in booking new business is required. Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software preferred. Experience in a governmental organization or destination-marketing organization is preferred.
Licenses and/or Certifications: Requires a valid driver license.
