The United Methodist Children’s Home was established in 1890, with the belief that every child deserves a caring and nurturing home. What began as an orphanage for displaced children in Selma, Alabama has grown to an agency that serves thousands of children and family members spanning 30+ counties in both Alabama and Northwest Florida.

With more than 125 years of experience, our programs begin with prevention and family preservation and continue into foster care services, residential homes, and higher education. Our staff care for and provide stability and education for babies, children, young adults, college
students, and Relatives. UMCH is proud to be among the most vital and trusted agencies serving at-risk children
and families in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton Counties in Northwest Florida, as well as 27 counties throughout AL.
UMCH is licensed by the Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) and Florida Department of Children & Families (DCF), and have achieved and maintained accreditation through the Council on Accreditation (COA). COA accreditation means that our programs, services,
administration, and management have been rigorously evaluated and meet best practice standards.
