14th Annual State of the County Report Scheduled for 18 May

(April 25, 2013) Fort Walton Beach, Florida –

The League of Women Voters of Okaloosa County and the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce the 14th annual State of the County Report, which will be held from 10:00AM to noon on Saturday, 18 May. The  will Chamber will host the event in their conference room at 34 Miracle Strip Pkwy SE, next door to Staff's Restaurant in FWB.

This annual event gives county residents the opportunity to get updates from their elected officials on county government, elections, schools and courts, as well as ask questions about important issues. The 2013 SOTC panel includes County Commissioner Nathan Boyles, School Superintendent Mary Beth Jackson, 1st Circuit Court Judge Terrance Ketchel and Supervisor of Elections Paul Lux.

League President Mary Blackwell is expecting a good turnout for the event. "Given the fallout from the TDC scandal, a new administration in the school system and the uproar over the 2012 election and on-going ethics and election reform, I think citizens are anxious not just to hear from their public officials, but also to hold them accountable -- and that's a good thing."

The event is free and open to the public. Coffee will be served.
