Cast:
Dr. Tad Tuttle, 30 plus. An attorney living in his hometown. From a very fine family. Has the unflappable nature of a person for whom life has never been particularly unpleasant. A gentle man who loves, and is profoundly perplexed by, his wife.
Mrs. Kelley, 30 plus. Non-white or from somewhere other than America, with an accent. The Tuttle's cook. Manages to succeed in her position by maintaining a consistent veneer of professionalism. Far more creative, and perceptive, than the Tuttle's fully appreciate.
Rowena Tuttle, 30 plus. Tad's wife. An expert on all rules and regulations of modern Southern society, and with good reasons: Secretly comes from country trash, and had to claw and scheme her way into the positon she now holds. Clever, not book smart, but very savvy. Learns quickly.
Ethelene, 50 plus. Rowena's mother. Operates under her own complex system of logic. Quite possibly clinically insane. Though cast out of her daughter's life, she remains utterly devoted to her, as well as to an unseen animal loosely referred to as a ''dog.''
Oliver, 30 plus. A tennis instructor and career criminal. Charming, attractive, in shape—Everything about Oliver is manufactured to make him appealing to other people.
Christi Dunbar-Rhodes, 30 plus. Efficient, sharp, career-focused. The sort of woman you'd want as your lawyer, investment banker, or agent, but maybe not as a parent.
Arlette Dunbar-Rhodes, 30 plus. Arlette is everything by nature that Rowena wants to be by practice. For Arlette, it is effortless. She is an exemplary marriage of classic Southern lady and contemporary civic-minded woman.
