Western Destin’s beach restoration project will celebrate completion on May 17, at 10:00 a.m. at Jetty East Condominiums. The completed beach restoration project cost $7.5 million, which was funded through the resort tax collections or bed taxes and a Municipal Benefit Tax Unit (MSBU). Twenty three turtles were rescued in the process, including 11 Kemp’s Ridleys endangered species.
Other environmental improvements included in the project were the recent dune planting with sea oats, and a diversity of beach species on Okaloosa Island. For more information and updates, visit www.co.okaloosa.fl.us.
