Okaloosa County Commissioners will hold Brooks Bridge Replacement Alternatives Visioning Workshop on Thursday, July 10. The public is encouraged to attend the workshop, which will be held at 5:30 at the Emerald Coast Convention Center. The workshop will be a forum where key stakeholders including the County, the Cities of Destin and Fort Walton Beach, the Bridge Authority, stakeholders and the public can come together to hear about FDOT’s process for the Alternatives Analysis and identify and inventory the alternative options available.

“We have convened this workshop to see if we can come together as a county on replacement alternatives that can be studied and ranked in the Florida Department of Transportation alignment alternatives,” stated Chairman Kelly Windes, Okaloosa County Commissioner. According to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the nearly 50 year old bridge will become unsafe to travel if it is not replaced, and repairs will occur in 2014 to increase the life of the bridge.
