Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off Event

Conexión Media Group and the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce are hosting a Hispanic Heritage Month Annual Observance Kick-Off event!

It is scheduled for Wednesday, September 14, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm at the Brooks-Beal Center located at 100 Beal Pkwy NW, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, 32548.

Hispanic Heritage Month is held from September 15 – October 15^th each year and was created to recognize the contributions of Hispanic Americans to the United States, as well as to celebrate their heritage and culture.  This year’s theme is “Honoring our Heritage.  Building Our Future.”

The event’s Keynote Speaker will be Master Sergeant (MSG) Jerry Arteaga.  MSG Arteaga is currently assigned to 1^st Special Forces Command (Airborne), Fort Bragg, NC.  MSG Arteaga is a highly decorated United States Army Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) with several deployments to both Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq).  Most recently, MSG Arteaga was selected as one of two NCOs to participate in the Fiscal Year 2018 Congressional Fellowship on Capitol Hill, where he will pursue a Master’s Degree in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University and serve on a Congressional Staff.

The event will also include short presentations from two chamber members, singers Reid Soria and Isabella Perez, a dance demonstration by Jamil Harris, and delicious Latin food.
