    FORT WALTON BEACH, FL — The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee will kick-off its 2013 King's Birthday celebration with an Oratorical and Poster Contest on January 12, 2013. The event will take place at Fort Walton Beach High School beginning at 10a.m. Each year, the contest features talented students from Okaloosa County Schools. Participants express their ideas of freedom, peace, equality and justice speech and/or art. The annual Memorial program will be held Sunday, January 20 at Fort Walton Beach High School Auditorium at 5:30p.m. Dr. Gregg Seaton will be the keynote speaker. Dr. Gregg Seaton serves as Associate Professor at the College of New Jersey in the Department of Education Administration and Secondary Education. He teaches pre and in service teachers - educational psychology, adolescent learning and development, and research methods. His research is primarily focused on how teacher identity development impacts the development and academic achievement of minority youth, particularly black boys. The 27th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade/March will be held Monday, Jan. 21. The march will begin at the Fort Walton Beach Civic Auditorium at 10a.m. and end at Fort Walton Beach High School where the rally and after rally activities will be held. Line-up starts at 8:00 AM. The public is invited to attend these activities.
