    Event Description:

RADIO STATION ‘AIMS HIGH’ WITH “BIKES OR BUST”

Local DJ to Spend 98 Hours in the Air to Raise Awareness for Toys for Tots Fundraiser

Fort Walton Beach - In order to make sure every needy child along the Emerald Coast gets a new bike this Christmas, Highway 98 Country is bringing back our highly-successful “Bikes or Bust” event for a fifth year.

Scott Mallory will spend 98 hours camping out 30 feet in the air atop a mechanical lift, with only a tent and sleeping bag to protect him from the chilly nights. Mallory, who serves as co-host with Scratch on Highway 98 Country’s morning show, hopes the event will encourage listeners, community members, and local businesses to donate new bikes and helmets for children of all ages.

This year’s event will take place at Uptown Station (99 Eglin Parkway NE in Fort Walton Beach). Mallory will go up in the lift at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 3rdand will come down at noon on Monday, December 7th. Apex Broadcasting representatives will be on-site throughout the event. Members of the Marines and volunteers from Shoreline Church and area schools will also be present to collect donations and assemble bikes for Toys for Tots.

Last Christmas, 697 needy children received a new bike on Christmas morning as a result of “Bikes or Bust.” This year, we hope to provide bikes to even more deserving Emerald Coast children.
