Event Description:Join the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce for a meaningful and inspiring evening at "Stories of Service: A Reflection on Vietnam" and "Voices of Valor: Honoring Those Who Served," on Monday, April 28, from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Air Force Armament Museum.
This free event kicks off our multi-day "Honoring Our Heroes" celebration, providing an immersive experience that reflects on the courage and sacrifices of Vietnam veterans. Participate in engaging panel discussions, meet authors during book signings, and explore insightful historical presentations that pay tribute to those who served with bravery and honor.
Come together with our community to gain a deeper understanding, share gratitude, and celebrate the extraordinary stories of valor from those who served.
Admission is free—join us for this powerful evening of remembrance and appreciation.
Local Air Force and Army veterans share their experiences on key Vietnam Conflict operations, including:
- Air Commando Operations
- Prisoners of War Experiences
- Son Tay Rescue Mission
- Interdiction of the Ho Chi Minh Trail
- Evacuation of Saigon and Phnom Penh
- Recovery of SS Mayaguez
- Book Signings & Panel Discussions featuring Vietnam-themed books by local authors:
- William Walters (Ghostriders 1968-1975)
- Richard Barlow Adams (Song Bé)
- Col. Ed Hubbard (Escape From the Box)
- Additional authors to be announced
- Artist John Mollison's Artwork Display & Signing
- Chronicling five local Vietnam Veterans and their aircraft: Mayor Dick Rynearson, Tom Moody, Ed Hubbard, Howard Hill, and John Wambough.
