Name: League of Women Voters Panel Discussion on Charter Schools
    Date: October 26, 2013
    Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM CDT
    Event Description:

The League of Women Voters of Okaloosa County is sponsoring a panel discussion from 10:00-noon on Saturday, 26 October, at Niceville City Hall (208 N. Partin Dr). Representatives from Collegiate High School, Okaloosa Academy and Liza Jackson Prep will be on hand to provide information about their schools and to answer your questions. League invites all county residents and visitors to join us and find out more about how the charter schools serve our community. The event is free and open to the public.

Noting that chronic budget deficits over the past several years have impacted Florida public schools, League President Mary Blackwell said, "Public education is a cornerstone of our democracy, so it's incumbent on citizens to ensure that all publicly funded schools are accountable both to students and taxpayers. This panel will provide some insight into how our charters measure up to the state constitutional requirement to provide a 'high quality' education for Okaloosa County students."
