The phrase ''Servant Leadership'' was coined by Robert K. Greenleaf (former AT&T CEO). He said: ''The servant-leader is servant first…servant leadership begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first.'' Servant leadership style has been practiced all over the world in many successful companies. Jim Collins, in his book Good to Great, modeled his ''level five leader'' on the leadership principles discussed by Robert Greenleaf.
