Name: Make Mitigation Happen WorkshopDate: April 9, 2014Time: 5:30 PM - 5:30 PM CDTEvent Description:Okaloosa County Public Safety will be hosting the Make Mitigation Happen Workshop for homeowners to gain additional knowledge on how to prepare their home for hurricane and other disasters that threaten Florida residents. The workshop will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the 911 Emergency Operations Center (EOC), located on the main campus of Northwest Florida State College.
“This is great time to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season and gain information before disaster strikes,” said Chairman Commissioner Kelly Windes. During the two-hour workshop participants will meet with experts who will provide valuable information on how homeowners can undertake one or more mitigation projects on their homes to strengthen it against Florida’s next hurricane.
The importance of preparing homes against the damage caused by a flood, wildfire and other disaster that threaten Florida residents will also introduced. Workshop participants will also learn how to save money on the windstorm portion of their homeowner’s insurance premium.
