Continuing the celebration of the orchestra's 25th anniversary as the region's premiere professional symphony, this concert features NFSO concertmaster and violin virtuoso Leonid Yanovskiy as he steps out of the orchestra to perform as a soloist for two jewels of the Russian violin literature. Thrill to the majesty and magic of the violin as Yanovskiy performs works by Rimsky Korsakov and Tchaikovsky – Concert Fantasia on Russian Themes, Op. 33 and Meditation, Op 42 No. 1. The orchestra also performs Rossini's effervescent overture to his comic opera The Italian Girl in Algiers and concludes with Mozart's majestic "Linz" Symphony.
