Name: OCCSW Hosts ''Boots to Suits: A Free Women's History Month Workshop''
    Date: March 10, 2015
    Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM CDT
    Event Description:

The Okaloosa County Commission on the Status of Women, in conjunction with Northwest Florida State College and the League of Women Voters of Okaloosa County, is celebrating women of character, courage and commitment at a free Women’s History Month workshop.

The event will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at the Bob Hope Village, 92 Sunset Lane, Shalimar FL, in the Bob Gates Welcome Center Conference Room from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Female veterans, their guests and the general public are invited to attend a buffet lunch and panel discussion featuring several local female veterans who will provide their perspectives on transitioning to a civilian career after separating from the military.

After lunch, several audience members will be selected for free, on-the-spot, makeovers by local estheticians who will demonstrate professional make-up techniques.

The meeting is free, and the public is welcome, but the OCCSW requests that attendees RSVP. For more information, or to RSVP, please call Diane Hodgins at 850-729-6485 or send an email to boots2suits@occsw.org.

The Okaloosa County Commission on the Status of Women (OCCSW) was established by the Board of County Commissioners in 1995 for the purpose of recognizing and honoring women who have made significant contributions to the improvement of women and citizens of Okaloosa County.

The OCCSW membership is composed of appointments by county commissioners and representatives of various women's organizations. Each year the Commission takes nominations for the Okaloosa County Women’s Hall of Fame, conducts special activities during Women’s History Month, provides a speakers bureau addressing various women’s issues, and partners with Jobs Plus and the Workforce Development board in the “Suit Up to Move Up” program to provide appropriate clothing for ladies trying to get off welfare and into the workforce.

For more information about the OCCSW, contact Amy McBride at chair@occsw.org, or visit the organization's website, www.occsw.org.
