Name: Rodney Mullen: the Godfather of Modern Street Skating
    Date: March 21, 2019
    Time: 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM CDT
    Event Description:
Widely considered the most influential skateboarder in the world, Rodney Mullen invented the majority of the tricks done in the modern era of the sport. The street Ollie, kick-flip, 360-flip, the Impossible, and countless other game-changing tricks evolved from his unique and uniquely effective method of innovation. From the age of fourteen, Rodney defended his world title 35 times; his championship reign lasted over a decade, which is—and likely always will be—the most successful competitive run in the sport’s history. He studied mathematics and engineering at the University of Florida and will share his insights on technology, innovation, and ingenuity purely for passion's sake. Register to listen to his inspirational discussion about where creativity originates, how innovation is born, the crossover of ideas, and how skateboards and munitions share the same space. David Fries, researcher at the Institute of Human Machine Cognition, will engage Rodney in a fireside chat about how serendipitous events can improve outcomes. Rodney will answer questions, sign autographs, and take photos with fans at the end of the event.
