Please join us on Friday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Sacred Heart Rehabilitation at the Market Shops located at 9375 Emerald Coast Pkwy. West - Unit 1, Miramar Beach, FL 32550.
There are 1.6 - 3.8 million sports-related concussions in the U.S every year. Other traumas can cause concussions such as falls, motor vehicle accidents or any direct force or blow to the body and or head. The most common symptoms are headaches, fatigue, dizziness, imbalance, slurred or slow speech and poor concentration. Speech therapist, Stephanie Borg, CCC-SLP, CBIS and physical therapist, Leslie Moskal, DPT, will be speaking about concussion management and how physical and speech therapy can reduce post-concussion symptoms.
Valuable information for coaches and parents will be provided on concussion recognition, sideline assessment and the benefits of obtaining a baseline assessment in advance of any unexpected injury.
Rehabilitation Services at Sacred Heart provides a comprehensive concussion management program for children and adults providing assessment and treatment of concussions through a specific process. We understand that symptoms and recovery time are unique and develop an individualized plan of care that helps increase physical and mental activity.
The center provides a wide spectrum of specialized rehabilitative care, troubleshooting and education for patients that have conditions effecting their overall balance and mobility. A multidisciplinary team of physical therapy experts work together to strengthen and preserve mobility, while educating the patient and preventing future falls and injuries.
