    Event Description:
    The City of Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park and Cultural Center will host a free public lecture series in honor of the Camp Walton Schoolhouse's 100th Birthday starting in September 2012. This series will feature key people, organizations, places, and events from the time period the schoolhouse was a working school: 1912-1936. The series is slated to run from September 2012 through August 2013 with one lecture each month. Our December talk will be given by Tony Mennillo. Mr. Mennillo's talk will focus on select chapters of his book ''Salty Memories: Along the Coastal Highway''. Mr. Mennillo's local roots run deep and have fueled his passion for preserving and promoting history. His career began with a degree in television production and working for 20 years to open retail stores across the state. Mr Mennillo is most well known for re-opening and running Arturo's studio with his wife, and publishing several pictorial history books: Highway to Heaven about Destin, Florida and Miracle Strip about Fort Walton Beach. This lecture will be immediately followed by a book signing.
