Name:Six Million Pages Project: A Holocaust Remembrance Event
Date:February 16, 2016
Time:5:30 PM - 5:30 PM CST
Event Description:
Professor Susie Jans-Thomas, Ph.D. returns to the Fort Walton Beach Library on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. for “Hidden in the Stacks.” This presentation is an introduction to the community-wide project, “Six Million Pages.” Begun in her home state of Wisconsin, Dr. Jans-Thomas designed this project to promote Holocaust education and literacy. Her long-term goal is for the community as a whole to one day read one page for every victim of the Holocaust; that’s 6,000,000 pages.
Tuesday’s presentation will provide an overview of the “Six Million Pages” project and an extensive bibliography of Holocaust resources. Students are encouraged to attend in order to enrich Holocaust units taught in the high school curriculum.
The program is free and no signup is required. The library is located in downtown Fort Walton Beach at 185 Miracle Strip Parkway, with parking on First Street. For more information, call the Fort Walton Beach Library at 833-9590.
