    Date: April 15, 2016
    Time: 5:00 PM - 5:00 PM CDT
    Event Description:

The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce and Eglin Federal Credit Union invite the public to a special local premiere screening of a short documentary featuring World War II veteran Chris Morgan at the Air Force Armament Museum (100 Museum Drive in Fort Walton Beach, adjacent to Eglin Air Force Base) on Friday, April 15 at 5:00 pm.

Writer, artist and filmmaker John Mollison has produced a web series called Old Guys and Their Airplanes,” featuring interviews with members of the Greatest Generation, among others.  Local resident Chris Morgan is spotlighted in episode #8, The Wind Beneath My Wings.”  Mr. Morgan is an Air Force flier who was captured and held by the Japanese from October 1943 through June 1945.  His story of survival is both thrilling and inspiring.

Because our area is home to so many inspirational veterans with their own stories, Mr. Mollison will be attending and will bring with him additional World War II veterans whose stories he has also captured.

The evening will begin with light refreshments at 5:00 pm, followed by the screening at 5:30 pm, and then a period of questions and answers and networking.  The public is invited to come meet, chat with, and honor these brave veterans.  Anyone with an interest in military history will find this an extraordinary opportunity.  Mr. Mollison will be available as well, and will have prints of his amazing aircraft drawings available for purchase with proceeds going to the Panhandle Warrior Partnership.

This event will be the kickoff to Military Family and Veterans Appreciation Day activities at the Fort Walton Beach Landing (139 Brooks Street, in downtown Fort Walton Beach) on Saturday, April 16.  This event, presented by the Panhandle Warrior Partnership, is a tribute to area military families, both currently serving and veterans.  It will include free entertainment, complimentary food from Sam’s Club, G.S. Gelato, Cinco Baptist Church, and other organizations, as well as closing fireworks sponsored by Eglin Federal Credit Union.  That event will run from 11:00 am, and will end with the 8:00 pm fireworks.
