    Job Description
    Position Overview:
     The Receptionist/Administrative Assistant is often the first smiling face (or friendly voice) people encounter at SOCKS. This role combines front desk responsibilities with light administrative support to keep things running smoothly. From greeting visitors and answering phones to keeping the office tidy and organized, the Receptionist/Administrative Assistant helps create a welcoming, professional environment for our adopters, donors, and volunteers — all while supporting the cats behind the scenes.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Front Desk & Visitor Relations
       
      • Answer phones, take messages, and direct calls to the appropriate staff.
         
      • Greet visitors, adopters, and volunteers in a friendly, professional manner.
         
      • Provide basic information about shelter hours, policies, and adoption procedures.
         
      • Handle walk-in inquiries and assist with adoption applications as needed.
         
    • Administrative Support
       
      • Maintain organized files, records, and office supplies.
         
      • Assist the Shelter Manager with clerical tasks such as data entry, copying, and scheduling.
         
    • Facilities & Cleanliness
       
      • Keep the front office tidy and welcoming for visitors.
         
      • Help maintain cleanliness in the shared kitchen and intake areas.
         
      • Monitor supplies in the reception, kitchen, and office areas and restock as needed.
         
    • Team Support
       
      • Assist staff and volunteers with light administrative tasks.
         
      • Provide occasional support for adoption events or fundraising activities.
         
      • Step in where needed to help ensure smooth daily operations.
         
    Qualifications:
    • Strong communication and customer service skills.
       
    • Basic computer and office skills (email, data entry, record keeping).
       
    • Ability to multitask in a busy, animal-centered environment.
       
    • Professional, friendly demeanor with the public.
       
    • Comfort working around cats and willingness to pitch in where needed.
       
    • Flexibility, reliability, and a team-oriented attitude.
