Job Overview
Save Our Cats and Kittens (SOCKS) is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate
Executive Director to lead our nonprofit animal shelter organization.
The ideal candidate will provide strategic leadership, oversee shelter operations and
community programs, and ensure the organization continues to fulfill its mission with
excellence and integrity.
This leadership role requires a dynamic professional possessing strong management
skills, with experience in donor recruitment and retention a plus.
Duties
? Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the organization, ensuring
alignment with SOCKS’ mission, values, and goals
? Oversee staff who are in charge of daily shelter operations, including, but not
limited to, animal care, adoptions, foster programs, volunteer management, and
the thrift store.
? Develop, implement, and evaluate programs that improve feline welfare and
reduce overpopulation
? Oversee budgeting processes, financial planning, grant management, and
resource allocation to ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability
? Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, community partners,
veterinarians, rescue organizations, government agencies, sponsors, volunteers,
and other community partners and stakeholders
? Lead fundraising efforts, including donor development, special events, grant
initiatives, sponsorships, and community outreach campaigns
? Serve as the public face of SOCKS by promoting the organization through
community engagement, media opportunities, and advocacy efforts
? Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to
nonprofit operations, animal welfare, and shelter management
? Promote a positive, compassionate, and collaborative organizational culture
focused on animal welfare and excellent customer service
? Work closely with the Board of Directors to support strategic planning,
organizational development, and long-term sustainability
Requirements
? Proven leadership and management experience
? Strong background in program development, staff supervision, volunteer
coordination, and organizational management
? Excellent relationship-building and communication skills with the ability to
effectively engage donors, volunteers, adopters, community partners, and
stakeholders
? Administrative experience, including budgeting, financial oversight, and strategic
planning, with grant management preferred
? Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment while maintaining
high standards of care and professionalism
? Experience with fundraising, donor relations, and nonprofit development
initiatives
? Compassionate leadership style with a commitment to animal welfare,
community service, and advocacy
? Experience working within nonprofit regulatory and compliance frameworks is
highly desirable
